- Reflect on the course, peer evaluation experience, and the final review process:
I have really enjoyed this course and found it very useful. I found the articles and discussions interesting and knowing that as teachers we have the same issues everywhere, not just in my district. I also like all the material and resources that were provided to us and will be able to use it in my classroom. Our instructor put a lot of time and energy into the course for us and did a great job helping us become better "technology" teachers.
The peer evaluation experience was great. I learned how to make surveys online and learned how to find the results. I looked and looked over my website and spent a lot of time trying to make sure I had everything, but my peers found a couple of things I missed. It was nice to have someone else look at it to find my mistakes and give me feedback.
The entire process was a great experience. I never would have made a website on my own, but now that I have done it, I realize that it is not so bad and I can do it again. I enjoyed making it and trying to figure everything out. I also liked how our instructor provided "check points" for us. This project is worth 200 points; therefore, we don't want to make any little mistake!
- Discuss changes made to your project as a result of peer review feedback.
I did not have the NETS Standards for teachers or for students included in on my page nor did I have the P21 Standards on my page. I did add both of these things in after the peer review survey. On my Ohio Academic Content Standards, I did include standards that I did not have in my lesson, so I took that out too after viewing my peer review survey results. I really like having the "checking" before turning in the major assignment.
- Share a basic implementation plan. How will you use this unit in your classroom?
I will use this unit for my students. At first things did not go so well for me with implementing technology; however, after I took the time and tried to figure it out, I realized that it wasn't so bad. We were given many resources and direction on ideas we can use and I will continue to use them in my classroom. I am starting a new job this fall and know that the little technology tools we were given will be very useful.
- Is there one thing you would have done differently?
I can't think of anything I would have done differently; however, I can see myself adding to the website for my students. At my school, we have "moodle" days in place of a snow day and this would be a great direction to point my students. Once my students actually use the website, I will be able to iron out any mistakes and adjust as necessary.
